It has been a really long time since i last blogged! I am in Taiwa now on my 7 weeks internship! I have been posted to Gan Yuan Junior High School and have been teaching here for 3 weeks. My computer broke down and I'm still finding ways to get it repaired=( this is bad cos i feel so disconnected from the rest of the world.
The school that I am posted to is situated rather far away from the city area, and I'm staying somwhere near school at a student's house. Homestay is quite fun cos you get to be involved in another family's daily activities, such as baking etc. My homestay family is quite nice to me, and I have one whole floor to myself, which means i have to clean up the place all by myself. =) I'm not afraid of getting hungry cos my homestay family feeds me with lots of food. The school is not as rundown as i thought it would be, in fact, it is quite high-tech (excluding the toilets). They have the latest version of windows and newly installed computers, with wireless internet access. I get to use the computers in school if there's a need to.
I have never ending free dinners and lunches to attend to, which means more PR jobs. This makes our lives here much more fulfilling, but it also makes us busier. We hardly have time for ourselves cos it gets really dark at 5pm(when we end school), and most of the time it's really cold. In addition, the place we stay at is really far from the city area, so we have to take the MRTs to get to the city for shopping, hence spending most of our time on travelling.
The principal gave us an early Christmas yesterday. We were told to pick something from this super ATAS shopping centre. I got myself a pair of shoes. Anw, I miss christmas cards. Went to a minister's house to eat yesterday, and the whole atmosphere was really political...
Other than planning lessons and stuff, we also have to tend a coffee house which is rather cool. But there are just flies and mosquitoes everday cos it's not a proper building, but a hut built by the students and teachers here. Learnt to roast coffee beans, make coffee, make bread etc. It was really fun but also alot of job.
Visited Taipei 101, went for Hot Spring , shopped at Shi Lin and Wu Fen Pu. More to go!
